Karrigan will play for Team Envy at the IEM Katowice Major

Time: 2019-01-02 05:00 (UTC)

Team Envy is bringing on talent from across the pond to help them out at the next $1 million Valve Major.

The organization announced late last night that Danish star Finn “karrigan” Andersen will be leading the charge for Envy going into the upcoming Major tournament series, IEM Katowice. On loan from FaZe Clan to Envy, karrigan is set to replace Matt “Pollo” Wilson on the active lineup. Pollo has also been released as a result of karrigan’s arrival.

These changes mean that karrigan’s time on the FaZe bench was short-lived, lasting only 15 days. Considering how accomplished he is as a player, it’s no surprise that a team like Envy picked him up to help on the tactical side of their gameplay. It’s unclear whether karrigan’s time on Envy is a temporary trial or if the team intends on signing him to a long-term contract.

A tweet from karrigan from yesterday suggested that he wouldn’t be playing in the Major. “I envy the players who will go to the Major in Katowice,” he said. But in the end, he implied he’d be playing with Envy prior to the Major.

Now Karrigan will be leading the North American roster, which includesNoah “Nifty” Francis, Josh “jdm” Marzano, Steven “reltuC” Cutler, Taylor “Drone” Johnson, and coach Zachary “Eley” Stauffer.

Envy’s run in the IEM Katowice Major tournament series begins at the Americas Minor on Jan. 22, where the team is considered an underdog among its North American counterparts, NRG Esports and eUnited. At the Minor, Envy will be hoping to qualify for its first Major through the Americas system.
