Time: 2025-08-19 19:45 (UTC)

The American organization Complexity, one of the oldest in the world of esports, has announced its exit from Counter-Strike 2 after 21 years in the discipline. The company's founder, Jason Lake, explained in a video statement that financial difficulties and the inability to secure sufficient investments forced the organization to cease its operations in CS2 .

There is a possibility that the current Complexity roster will transition to the Ukrainian structure Passion UA , which came as a surprise to fans.

Reasons for Departure
In his statement, Jason Lake noted that the year 2025 proved to be exceptionally challenging for the organization following successful years in 2023 and 2024 .

We could not generate enough revenue to maintain a tier-1 team
Jason Lake

He said, adding that the team explored all possible options, including seeking investors. The economic situation this year significantly reduced revenues, leading to this decision. Lake emphasized that this is not a final farewell, but currently, there are no plans to return to CS until financial problems are resolved.

History and Achievements
Complexity began its journey in Counter-Strike in 2004, becoming one of the first organizations to invest in the discipline. In 2011, they temporarily left the scene but returned to CS:GO in 2013 with a legendary roster: SEMPHIS , seang@res, n0thing , Hiko , and swag . Over the years, the team has won numerous titles, including:

2020-06-21 — 1st place, BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 European Finals, 2:1, $335,000.
2024 -06-16 — 1st place, ESL Challenger at DreamHack Summer 2024 , 2:0, $50,000.
2006-07-23 — 1st place, Championship Gaming Invitational 2006, 10:5, $50,000.
2021-06-30 — 1st place, Spring Sweet Spring #3, 2:0, $40,000.
2006-07-09 — 1st place, CPL Summer 2006, 2:0, $40,000.
2005-07-10 — 1st place ESWC 2005, 16:6, $40,000.

The team's total prize pool exceeds $2,262,679, making it one of the most decorated organizations in North America.

Lake expressed gratitude to the fans, players, manager GRAHAM , and staff for their support over the years, calling their work "a true honor."

He also assured that the organization will fulfill all commitments regarding the NA Revival Series tournaments in 2026 to support the community. Complexity's departure is a significant blow to the North American scene, as the organization was a symbol of long-term success in esports.

Reaction and Expectations
Fans and analysts are shocked by the decision, as Complexity has left its mark on the game since 2003, including collaborations with the Dallas Cowboys and the opening of the GameStop Performance Center in 2019. In 2024 , the organization returned under Lake's control after a buyout for $10.36 million, but financial difficulties forced them to retreat.
