SabeRLight Shares Thoughts on the Absence of Battle Pass in Dota 2

Time: 2025-08-11 10:00 (UTC)

The offlaner for Team Liquid , Jonáš "SabeRLight-" Volek, commented on his official X account about the absence of the traditional Battle Pass in Dota 2 and proposed an idea that he believes could positively impact The International's prize pool.

According to the player, Valve used to create all the content for the Battle Pass themselves, and the tournament prizes were already record-breaking. Therefore, it seemed logical that only 25% of BP sales went to the prize pool. But now, aside from stickers, almost all the content for fan bundles is created by the teams themselves.

So it would make sense that the cut goes up to 50-75% raising the TI prizepool from 3 to a respectable 5mil! Everyone wins! TI is by far the biggest tournament, pros are happy, valve can focus on not doing battlepasses, and TI teams have even more incentive to make their fan bundle content great!
explained SabeRLight

His opinion has garnered support from part of the community, which believes that the current approach could give The International an additional boost in popularity, even without the return of the classic Battle Pass.
