Team Liquid 's Ace: "Yeah, it is pretty strange because they've been kind of like our nemesis for many years"

Time: 2025-10-09 16:00 (UTC)

Danish offlaner Marcus “Ace” Hølgersen has become the newest player for  Team Liquid .

After years of competing against Liquid in major tournaments, the seasoned player will don their jersey for the first time and join the roster preparing for a packed season following The International 2025. Previously, Ace played for  Gaimin Gladiators , with whom he won several majors and twice became a silver medalist at The International.

A Versatile Offlaner for a New Chapter

Ace is known as one of the most adaptable and intelligent offlaners in Dota 2. His ability to adjust to his team's style and dominate the lane with heroes like Broodmother and Underlord has made him one of the best in his role. Throughout his career, he has repeatedly proven he can both hold off strong enemy carries and take the initiative when necessary.

Now the Dane is joining his former rivals — Team Liquid . In an interview after signing, Ace admitted that it feels "strange to wear the jersey of a team he has long competed against," but he expressed deep respect for the organization and its achievements.

On His Role in the Team and First Impressions

According to the player, joining Liquid is "a challenge and an opportunity to try something new." After four years in a stable lineup with tOfu , Ace described joining a new system as "exciting with an element of healthy tension."

He also noted that his tactical thinking and activity in drafting could strengthen the team:

Everyone in Liquid is very skilled and laid-back, but I think a bit more control and tactics won't hurt.

On the Patch and the Future

Speaking about the recent patch 7.39e, Ace admitted that the update didn't bring radical changes but highlighted the useful nerfs to Helm of the Dominator. He also expressed hope that Broodmother would return to the offlane — a role where the hero has long been his signature pick.

The Dane also shared his expectations for upcoming tournaments — PGL Wallachia Season 6, BLAST Slam V in Singapore , noting that he is particularly looking forward to the trip to Singapore , where he has only competed once before.

Concluding the interview, Ace thanked the fans for their support:

Thank you to everyone who has been with me through tough and successful times. I hope you continue to follow me with Team Liquid .

Now Liquid is strengthening their roster ahead of a new tournament cycle, and Ace has the opportunity to prove that his versatility and experience can help the team return to the top of the scene.
