Insider Big Bad Bear has shared new details about a potentially revolutionary game mode in League of Legends. According to information found in the game's files by the SkinSpotlight team, Riot Games is working on a mode codenamed "Monarch," which could become a new Battle Royale for the game.

According to Big Bad Bear, the new data mine conducted by SkinSpotlight revealed lines of code related to the "Monarch" mode. Interestingly, this mode has two versions:

18 players in a Duos format
24 players in a Trios format

Additionally, there is also a mention of an FFA (Free For All) option—meaning a "every man for himself" mode, which closely resembles the classic Battle Royale concept where teams or players compete until the last one standing.

Another significant discovery is that the "Monarch" mode plans to use WASD key controls. The tutorial for this mode even specifically explains how to use Flash with WASD. It is not yet known whether this control scheme will be available only in "Monarch" or if Riot plans to add it to other game modes as well. 

At the time of writing, Riot Games has not officially commented on the appearance of the "Monarch" mode, but the large number of details discovered in the game files indicates active development. If these changes indeed come to fruition, League of Legends could receive the most significant gameplay update in recent years, including a new control style and an entirely different gaming experience.
