PGL Belgrade 2025 Moved to PGL Studios in Bucharest

Time: 2025-06-04 16:19 (UTC)

PGL has announced the relocation of the PGL Belgrade 2025 tournament from Belgrade to the PGL studios in Bucharest, Romania. It is reported that the reason for this change is "unforeseen logistical difficulties." The event, scheduled for October 25 – November 2, 2025, will no longer take place at the arena in Belgrade.

Key Details
The tournament will gather 16 teams invited through the global VRS ranking system, competing for a prize pool of $1,250,000. Unlike previous plans, there will be no qualifiers for PGL Belgrade 2025. This decision was made five months before the event, giving teams time to adapt to the changes.

This is not the first challenge for PGL in 2025. Earlier, plans for the first tournament of 2027, which was to be named PGL Krakow, fell through due to the cancellation of an arena booking. It was later revealed that ESL had booked this location for relocating IEM Katowice to Krakow. Read more here.

PGL CEO Silviu Stroie earlier this year criticized other tournament organizers on social media, accusing them of "coordinated efforts by several parties" to hinder the hosting of PGL events with CS2 .

PGL's Promise
PGL remains committed to the tournament format and promises to create an unforgettable experience for players and fans, despite the change of location. The organizers expressed hope to return to Serbia in the near future. They emphasized that the PGL studios in Bucharest will provide the necessary infrastructure to host a high-quality event, despite the change in plans.

Additionally, PGL noted that the decision to cancel the qualifiers was made considering logistical issues and the desire to ensure the stability of the format. This will allow a focus on the quality of competition among the top 16 teams that have already confirmed their participation. The tournament is expected to garner significant viewer attention, given the popularity of CS2 and PGL's experience in hosting major events.
