In a recent interview on YouTube on the official Heroic channel, the new head coach, Tobias “ TOBIZ ” Theo, who joined the organization on June 30, 2025, replacing former coach SAW , who recently moved to G2, shared the team's plans, talked about himself, and expressed his opinion about the players.

About his path and teaching experience
TOBIZ talked about how his career as an elementary school teacher laid the foundation for his transition to esports, where he initially worked with young talents. He mentioned the opportunity to coach the top academic team, mouz NXT , as a turning point that defined his professional path.

I taught children from 1st to 5th grade, and then an opportunity came up to coach one of the best academy teams in the world, and yeah, I went for it.

On team building
He emphasized the importance of selecting the right players and creating a cohesive atmosphere, which is key to success in CS2 team moments, where coordination and understanding on the server determine the outcome.

I think it's about getting the five correct players and building up a good team in terms of camaraderie and being on the same page.

Philosophy of playing CS2
TOBIZ shared his approach to the game, where victory depends on avoiding mistakes, and emphasized the role of intuition, especially in dynamic situations on maps with complex geometry, such as Nuke.

Counter-Strike is a game of mistakes. The one team that makes fewer mistakes wins. Minimizing these potentially big mistakes that happen during the game. I think not playing correctly but playing off your intuition and playing off your gut feeling is a big topic of mine.

He described tN1R as a surprise star who quickly adapted to Heroic , demonstrating impressive results in game moments, which was a pleasant surprise for the coaching staff.

tN1R . Yeah. Kind of came out of the blue... and I think uh what he has been doing in Heroic for for this short amount of time like has been really spectacular.

Tobis highlighted LNZ as one of the most promising IGLs, emphasizing his ability to lead the team in CS2 and predicting further growth thanks to his leadership qualities.

LNZ . I think he's one of the brighter young prospects of the IGL role and he's been on a great trajectory of his career right now. He's only been going upwards and I'm excited to see like where he can and when he can peak and I'm going to help him with that.

He praised nilo for his impressive firepower and ability to survive on the server, calling him one of the most talented young players who can change the game for Heroic .

nilo , I think he's super super good. Uh insane amount of firepower, has this special ability to take care of himself on the server. Still is. He's still very young. Also, sky's the limit.

About group dynamics
He discussed the unique lineup with three Swedes and two Belarusians, emphasizing the importance of English as the main language for coordination in CS2 , but with the possibility of using native languages for cohesion.

We also talked about this like uh the group dynamics and how we want to like approach this three Swedes and two Belarussian. It's a funny combo. I don't think I've seen it before, but uh yeah, we're going to have some ground rules on how to be in the team and uh of course we will speak English every time we're together, but uh we can use the native language when it uh when the situation allows us to.

On choosing Heroic
TOBIZ explained that he chose Heroic because of their persistence and interest, which was the deciding factor after a difficult negotiation process with MOUZE NXT.

I chose Heroic because they really wanted me. I think uh that attracts me a lot that a club really wants me and shows interest in me. Uh, and I think also Heroic went far to get me from mouse. Um, no, it wasn't an easy process, but uh I'm very happy to be here at least.

On influence and legacy
TOBIZ mentioned the inspiring influence of Danish coaches, in particular zonic , with whom he worked for three years, and expressed his hope to leave his own mark on esports.

Every good Danish coach has always been like a small inspiration for me. I think uh working with zonic for over 3 years has also been a big inspiration for me. And now the student becomes the teacher hopefully one day.

On the future
TOBIZ expressed optimism about working with the team, hoping for mutual growth and reaching new heights in CS2 in six months.

Uh, I'm just looking forward to getting started, like, uh, it's a really good group of players. Uh, I think the talent is there. The potential is huge, and uh, I'm here to elevate all of the players and um make sure that we play together as a team and uh, yeah, just becoming the best version that we can be, and then we'll see in 6 months how good we have become.
