Anubis Sets Record for Shortest Time in Map Pool

Time: 2025-07-19 09:00 (UTC)

The map Anubis officially left the active CS2 map pool on July 16, 2025. Since its addition on November 18, 2022, only 972 days have passed—making it the shortest duration a map has stayed in the pool over the past decade, excluding the recently added Train and Overpass.

Anubis was introduced to replace Dust2 and marked a rare instance of a community-created map returning to the game. Despite its interesting structure and unique visual style, Anubis struggled to establish itself in the tournament meta and was often criticized for its limited strategic options.

For comparison, the duration of other maps in the active map pool:

Mirage — 4,427 days (from 06/06/2013 to present)
Overpass — 3,782 days (12/18/2013 to 04/25/2024)
Inferno — 3,089 days (from 02/03/2017 to present)
Nuke — 3,075 days (from 02/17/2016 to present)
Train — 2,338 days (12/10/2014 to 05/04/2021)
Vertigo — 2,121 days (03/19/2019 to 01/06/2025)
Cache — 2,008 days (09/19/2013 to 03/19/2019)
Dust2I (2018) — 1,673 days (04/20/2018 to 11/18/2022)
Dust2 (2012) — 1,628 days (08/21/2012 to 02/03/2017)
Cobblestone — 1,586 days (12/18/2013 to 04/21/2018)
Ancient — 1,539 days (from 05/03/2021 to present)
Inferno (old) — 1,276 days (08/21/2012 to 02/17/2016)
Anubis — 972 days (11/18/2022 to 07/16/2025)
Nuke (old) — 842 days (08/21/2012 to 12/10/2014)
Dust2 (2024) — 451 days (from 04/25/2024 to present)
Train (1.6) — 395 days (08/21/2012 to 09/19/2013)
Train (2025) — 195 days (from 01/06/2025 to present)
Overpass (2025) — 3 days (from 07/16/2025)

Excluding the updated versions of Train and Overpass, the closest comparison to Anubis in terms of brevity in the pool is Train from CS 1.6, which remained in the active map pool from August 2012 to September 2013—a total of 395 days.
