LEC 2026 Opening Peak Viewership Drops 20% Compared to Last Year

Time: 2026-01-21 13:00 (UTC)

The peak online viewership at the start of the LEC this year reached 470,701 viewers, which is 20.5% less compared to last season.

Despite the return of the LEC Versus format and the participation of new teams like  Los Ratones  and  Karmine Corp Blue, the initial viewership data is disappointing.

At the start of the winter split in 2025, the peak number reached 592,185 viewers. This data indicates a decline in interest in the tournament during the early days. Teams like Los Ratones and Karmine Corp Blue were brought in to reignite viewer interest, but judging by the initial numbers, expectations were not met.

The most popular match of the first weekend was the showdown between Los Ratones and  Karmine Corp , which attracted 470,000 viewers, including the official broadcast and co-streams. This number was significantly lower than last year when the match between Karmine Corp and  Movistar KOI  showed much higher figures. This year's match between Karmine Corp and Movistar KOI drew only 377,545 viewers, which is 36% less compared to the same matchup last season.

Interestingly, the team currently in last place in the LEC ranks in the top 3 for viewership numbers. Specifically, this team's match against Karmine Corp Blue ranks second, and the LEC opening match between former NLC champions and  Fnatic  ranks third. The peak number of viewers last year was recorded during the grand final when the match between Karmine Corp and  G2 Esports  attracted 801,369 viewers.
