Riot Games found no significant violations in the organization of matches on the North American Tier 2 scene

Time: 2025-07-31 07:32 (UTC)

A few months ago, renowned content creator Sean “sgares” Gareth published his own investigation into match fixing and corruption in the Tier 2 Challengers scene in the American region. However, after several months of investigation, representatives of Riot Games reported that no significant evidence of this situation had been found.

What is known about NA Challengers
Two months ago, Sean “sgares” Gareth stated during a live broadcast on Twitch and on his social media accounts that the Tier 2 scene in the American region is now completely corrupt. This has led to unfair precedents, including: non-payment of prize money for participating in tournaments, and match-fixing with huge sums of money offered to players. In addition, there are even cases where an anti-cheat employee, Vangurd, receives money for not blocking cheaters. For more details about the investigation and all the evidence, read our article – The Challengers scene in the American region is drowning in corruption and chaos.

Investigation results
Immediately after this, Riot Games announced that it was launching its own investigation into the situation, and two months later, the results were announced. As it turned out, Riot Games did not find any violations of the points listed by Sean “sgares” Gareth, although each of them was investigated in detail.

We conducted a comprehensive analysis of the gameplay and account data for the match between Blue Otter and Shopify Rebellion , as well as six other matches that were referenced. This included an evaluation of Tournament Realm (TR) and active accounts, user behavior logs, and in-game data. No signs of fraud or suspicious activity were found.

Match integrity and betting market analysis: Riot's integrity partners (Sportradar, GRID, and IBIA) reviewed betting market activity during Stages 1 and 2 of the 2025 NA Challengers League, and no matches were flagged as suspicious.

Review of circulating betting tickets: Riot's integrity partners reviewed screenshots of betting tickets circulating on social media. One widely circulated image was initially believed to be related to NA Challengers, but based on its content and formatting, it was determined to be related to an unrelated event. As a result, the allegations were deemed implausible.

Riot's TV Engineering and Competitions departments in the Americas jointly reviewed the clean channel access logs and found no evidence of abuse. It was confirmed that the controls are in line with industry standards.

Allegations against Riot employees: Claims circulating on social media alleging misconduct by Riot employees were thoroughly investigated in accordance with Riot's internal integrity protocols. These claims were traced to third-party sources, which subsequently acknowledged the lack of direct evidence or retracted their claims.

Ultimately, Riot Games representatives stated that they would continue to monitor the situation on the Tier 2 scene and work closely with players and teams who wish to provide evidence of the above.
