Virtus.pro to Miss ESL Pro League Season 22, ENCE to Take Their Spot

Time: 2025-09-28 15:00 (UTC)

Virtus.pro  will not be able to participate in the upcoming ESL Pro League Season 22, which will take place in Stockholm.

The decision by the Swedish authorities came as a shock to the players themselves, as the roster was considered one of the contenders for high positions in the group stage.

Background

On their social media, they reported that upon entering Sweden , part of the Virtus.pro roster encountered an unexpected problem: border control questioned the validity of medical insurance for three players. The intrigue is that these same policies had previously been accepted without issues when entering other Schengen countries. Despite the club promptly arranging new insurance, by that time, the decision to revoke the visas had already been made and could not be reversed.

The Situation

It became known that the consequences of this conflict immediately affected the team's participation in the ESL Pro League. The tournament is set to take place on Swedish soil in the coming days, and there is simply no time to resolve the issue. The club noted that they reached out to a local lawyer specializing in immigration law to appeal the border authorities' decision. However, legal processes will take weeks, and the championship is starting now, so don't expect VP to compete in Stockholm.

ESL announced on their social media that instead of Virtus.pro , the Finnish team  ENCE  will compete in the ESL Pro League Season 22, being the next available candidate according to tournament rules.

Virtus.pro is forced to miss one of the key championships of the season, while ENCE gets a direct opportunity to make a name for themselves on the international stage. For ESL Pro League, this case has become an example of how important not only gaming but also organizational aspects of tournament preparation are.
