Valve has released a new update for CS2 : “Capture the Moment” ahead of BLAST.tv Austin Major

Time: 2025-05-30 07:08 (UTC)

Valve has unveiled a new update for Counter-Strike 2 called “Capture the Moment,” which is a real treat for fans ahead of the BLAST.tv Austin Major, kicking off on June 3, 2025, in Austin, Texas. This tournament will bring together the 24 best teams in the world, who will compete for a prize pool of $1,250,000 and the legendary trophy.

The update includes unique features such as a Viewer Pass for spectators, new Souvenir Highlight Packages, and an updated notification design that significantly improves the gaming experience.

New features in the Capture the Moment update and details about BLAST.tv Austin Major
Valve has added a Viewer Pass for BLAST.tv Austin Major, which allows players to activate their Pick'Ems before the first matches begin. By activating the pass, you will be able to upgrade your Challenge Coin and earn Souvenir Tokens.

This feature is designed to engage fans in the tournament and allow them to participate in events even outside of the game.

Souvenir Highlight Packages: unique keychains with highlights
One of the main new features is the introduction of Souvenir Highlight Packages, available exclusively for playoff matches. These packages contain souvenir weapons with an attached keychain that records a video highlight from a selected playoff map, such as an Ace , clutch, or triple kill.

The weapon description will contain information about the highlight, and the video can be viewed in the CS2 inventory, on Steam, or while watching a teammate in the game.

Updated notification design and cooptalker script
Valve has also updated the design of in-game notifications: instead of a banner at the top, there is now a separate tab in the upper left corner where you can view information about server connections, bans, client updates, and other events. In addition, the “cooptalker” file script, which is related to joint missions in Operations, has been updated, eliminating the problem with yellow lines and improving the display of tasks.

Along with the update, Valve has added a new icon to display different types of notifications, making the interface more intuitive.

These are the first steps in a series of updates that Valve plans to release throughout the summer of 2025 to support the CS2 community.
