Rumors: G2 Eyeing Transfer of MATYS from Fnatic

Time: 2025-07-05 18:30 (UTC)

G2 might soon surprise fans: according to multiple sources from HLTV and neL, the club is actively negotiating with Fnatic for the transfer of Matúš "MATYS" Šimko. This transfer could be the final piece in the team's extensive summer overhaul.

Rebuilding with a Major in Mind
G2 has already announced key transfers ahead of the BLAST.tv Austin Major: the team has added former AWP player Heroic Álvaro "SunPayus" García and coach Eetu "sAw" Saha. Additionally, the captaincy will be handed over to Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač following the departure of Snax . This shift in the team's structure indicates a complete reboot of G2 both inside and outside the server.

Previously, replacing the captain was discussed, and xKacpersky from ENCE was considered a favorite for this role. However, negotiations with ENCE were halted — and instead of the Polish fragger, G2 is betting on MATYS, whose playing style is closer to that of a secondary rifler rather than a leader.

Transfer, Stats, and Tournament Plans
If the deal is finalized, MATYS will replace Snax in the starting lineup. The Slovak player spent a year and a half with Fnatic , where he maintained an average rating of 6.4. Despite his consistent form, his participation in major tournaments was limited: two parts of the ESL Pro League and the Challengers stage at the Major in Shanghai make up his top-tier resume. If the transfer goes through, he could debut for G2 at the end of July on the main stage of IEM Cologne — one of the most prestigious events of the year.

Thus, the revamped G2 lineup will be:

Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač (captain)
Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa
Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko
Álvaro “SunPayus” García
Matúš “MATYS” Šimko
Eetu “sAw” Saha (coach)

If the deal with Fnatic is successfully completed, G2 will enter IEM Cologne with a completely renewed core. From the old guard, only huNter-, malbsMd, and HeavyGod remain, but now they bear not only the firepower but also the tactical responsibility. The match in Cologne will be the first real test for the revamped lineup — and an opportunity for MATYS to make his mark at the elite level.
