1401 Days Without an Update: CS2 Community Demands Action from Valve

Time: 2025-07-24 14:30 (UTC)

On February 21, 2022, the last CS:GO operation, Riptide, concluded. Since then, 1,401 days have passed, but Valve has yet to release a new event. Reddit users have launched a wave of criticism, accusing the developers of inactivity despite the game's success in esports.

User hausz posted a thread that quickly gained community reactions. In it, he listed all the major issues that have accumulated in CS2 since its release:

1,401 days without an operation. The server browser is terrible. Wingman still lacks maps shown in the CS2 trailer two years ago. No Danger Zone. Almost every game has cheaters. No Cache, no Mirage rework, no Cobblestone, no seasonal activities, no operations... What are they even doing?

In the comments, players agreed that Valve is hardly involved with the game. Some compare the current CS2 to the version from a decade ago.

Gameplay and the esports scene are the best among all shooters. But in terms of content, it's like everything is stuck in 2013.

User Kris-p jokes:

It would be funny if the next major CS2 tournament was held on the old CSGO.

Players see the lack of new operations as part of Valve's strategy.

User LaplaceYourBets writes:

Operations died after the introduction of Armory. Why create temporary battle passes when you can sell an infinite one with always-desired content?

User Boshva shares the same view:

It seems like five developers are handling a billion-dollar revenue game. Don't expect too much (the company has about 350 employees, after all).

Many feel nostalgic for the old operations and their maps.

User partyboycs reminisces:

"Almost 4 years... The best part of the game. Come on, Valve.

User ghettoflick agrees:

The old operations were much better than Riptide and other new ones. So many great 5v5 maps: Zoo, Austria , Contra, Dust1, Rats, Tuscan...

Operation Riptide was the last official operation in CS:GO. It started on September 21, 2021, and ended on February 21, 2022. Since then, Valve has not released new events with PvE missions, maps, and seasonal activities—even after the game's transition to CS2 .
