New scandal in CS2 : BIT suspended for illegal communication during Thunderpick CQ

Time: 2025-07-25 10:46 (UTC)

A new day brings a new scandal on the CS2 tier-2 scene. This time, the spotlight is on Bruno “BIT” Lima, coach of the South American team 9z . During the semifinals and finals of the online qualifiers for the Thunderpick World Championship CQ, he actively communicated with players, which is a direct violation of tournament rules. The curious thing is that this became known precisely because of the official 9z video, where BIT can be clearly heard during the matches: he was giving hints, providing information about positions, commenting on the opponent's actions, and coordinating actions.

The punishment is minimal, but official
Tournament organizer GAM3RS_X acknowledged the violation and issued a ruling: BIT will be suspended for one map during the next event in the series. During this match, he will not be allowed to be with the team either online or physically. No other person is allowed to take his place either. In case of a repeat violation, 9z will be disqualified completely.

The team's reaction — agreement, the scene's reaction — outrage
In a comment to the publication, the 9z team stated that it accepts the punishment and admits guilt. They explained that in some online tournaments, such as ESL Challenger or EPL Qualifier, continuous communication between the coach and players is allowed. Therefore, they did not pay attention to the ban in this tournament. They assured that there would be no such mistakes in the future.

However, the community and opponents remained dissatisfied with the decision. Many consider the punishment too lenient, as the 9z coach intervened 15 times during active rounds, including critical moments against RED Canids and ODDIK . Given that the team won a slot in the international tournament thanks to these matches, some players are demanding a review of the results or a more severe sanction.

Rules and prospects
According to section 3.8 of the Thunderpick regulations, coaches are not allowed to communicate with the team outside of breaks. Formally, the tournament does not specify a strict algorithm for penalties, but leaves it to the discretion of the organizers. In the case of BIT, it was a “final warning.”

The situation sparked another wave of discussion about standards of conduct, transparency of rules, and equality of conditions. The CS2 community was once again convinced that compliance with the rules must be a priority, even in the digital age, when a single video clip can destroy a reputation.
