Dota 2 Shows Record Low Online Numbers for the First Time Since 2021

Time: 2025-05-02 08:50 (UTC)

In April 2025, the average online player count for Dota 2 fell below 400,000 active users per month, reaching its lowest point since 2021.

This signals a concerning trend of declining interest in the game despite stable activity over recent years. According to the latest data from Steam Charts, the average number of Dota 2 players in April 2025 was 393,173.2, which is 9,678 fewer players than in March . This marks the second consecutive month of declining activity and the first time in four years that the average online player count has dropped below 400,000.

Back in January 2025, the game showed some growth (+8,855 players), but the overall trend from 2024 to 2025 indicates a gradual loss of audience. The highest average player count in the last 12 months was in May 2024, with 512,919.2, but since then, the numbers have only decreased.

Compared to April 2024, when the average online count was 456,550.8, the drop over the year amounts to over 63,000 players, or more than 13%. If this trend continues, the game could face even lower numbers in the Summer , a time when player activity typically decreases.
