Rekkles announces departure from T1 : Received an offer that allows me to continue playing professionally at home until 2025

Time: 2024-11-13 13:30 (UTC)

Live broadcast on November 13: T1 officially announces the termination of the contract with CL team support player Rekkles , who posted a long message revealing that he received an invitation to continue playing professionally at home until 2025.

Hello everyone, I have some important news to share regarding my next goal.

The focus of the discussion is—this may shock you—my decision to leave T1 . Now, before everyone reacts, please give me a moment to explain. After hearing my story, I hope it will be easier for everyone to understand why I chose to leave T1 .

Last year, when I received Becker's invitation to try out for the LCK CL team in Korea , I was not in a good mental state. Diagnosed with autism, along with family changes and the difficult years since leaving Fnatic in 2020, I was in a tough spot. Because of this, I was actually inclined to take a break in 2024. But since it was T1 that extended the invitation, I knew that future Rekkles would regret not giving it a try. I think we all agree that this decision was the right one, but as expected, it did not solve my problems—it merely postponed them. Now, I believe it is time to face these challenges, and to do that, I need to stay in Sweden, closer to my family.

Fortunately, I was lucky enough to receive an offer that allows me to continue playing professionally at home until 2025. In League of Legends terms, I can finally "recall"—have the chance to go back, restore health and mana, buy some essentials, upgrade skills, and then re-enter the rift. I left home in 2013 when I was just 16, and now, nearly 12 years later, I am 28 years old, and I have the opportunity to start over. I want to play for as long as possible, and as I envision the future days, I realize that this change can help me achieve that goal. Extending my career at this stage is very important to me.

I know this may be a surprising decision, especially after winning the world championship with ZOFGK + KTR. However, I promised myself that regardless of the outcome or temporary emotions, I would stick to this plan. This is a reflection of my commitment, and I hope you understand that it comes from a desire to continue in this game and keep improving.

I will always be grateful for my time at T1 , not only because of the experience but also because this time helped me grow as a player and as a person. Coming to Korea without support experience or understanding the language was a challenge, but T1 believed in me regardless. I want to thank my teammates, coaches, and the staff at T1 headquarters for their support along the way, as well as all the fans for their support. It has been an honor to wear the T1 badge.

Thank you all for being with me so far, and I hope you will join me in starting the next chapter. I couldn't have done any of this without your support.

See you again!
