Generation Gaming ’s top laner Kim " Kiin " Gi-in shared his thoughts after his team’s intense five-game victory at MSI 2025. In a post-match interview, he reflected on why the series was so difficult, how player experience plays a key role in their success, and who he would prefer to face next — T1 or Bilibili Gaming .
This interview is particularly insightful because Kiin doesn’t just state the obvious. His comments reveal Generation Gaming ’s internal dynamics, strategic thought process, and mindset heading into the final stages of MSI. His words help paint a fuller picture of what makes Generation Gaming one of the most consistent teams in the world.
To fully understand the weight of this victory, it's important to remember that Generation Gaming are riding a 21-series win streak in 2025. On their path through MSI, they continue to prove why they’re not just LCK champions but one of the tournament favorites. In the semifinals, Generation Gaming defeated LPL 's first seed Anyone’s Legend in a grueling 3:2 series. They now await the winner of T1 vs Bilibili Gaming in the semifinals.
Following the close series against the Chinese representative, Kiin explained why the match turned out to be so difficult. The main issue came down to their limited engage tools in the draft:
I think most of the games were decided by skirmishes, and I realised that our team comp didn't really have a lot of engage tools. So that was the main focus of our feedback, and we wanted to make some adjustments in our draft.
At the same time, Kiin emphasized that what truly keeps Generation Gaming stable is the individual experience of its players and their ability to act without excessive communication:
Most of our players are very experienced, so they have a really good understanding of their own role. We don't really even need a lot of communication — you just know what to do in games. So I think that's the biggest part.
Speaking about the strength of the LPL this year, Kiin was honest in his assessment and did not underestimate the Chinese region:
Even today’s series was very challenging for us. So if we were to have a rematch, things can happen in any kind of way. I think they are still a big threat to us.
Looking ahead to the next round, Kiin has a clear preference for who he hopes Generation Gaming will face:
Generation Gaming is actually pretty familiar with facing up against them in MSI. Not new faces, but I want to say still our LCK family — T1 . I wish they can make it.
Generation Gaming remain the top favorites to win MSI 2025. If they manage to advance past the semifinals, they’ll have the chance to defend their title. Still, as the series against Anyone’s Legend showed, even the most dominant teams have vulnerable points. Every match moving forward is not just another step — it’s a true test of championship DNA.
