The League of Legends World Championship 2025 kicks off on October 14 — this year's Worlds will take place in China , spanning three major cities: Beijing, Shanghai , and Chengdu. Riot has decided to inform the community about where and how the main event of the year will unfold.

The competition will traditionally begin with the play-in stage, which will be held on October 14 at the Beijing Smart Esports Center in Beijing. The very next day — from October 15 to 25 — the Swiss stage will be played in the same city, where the top eight teams will be determined to advance to the playoffs.

Starting October 28, the tournament will move to the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai . This is where the quarterfinals and semifinals will take place over the course of a week — a notable change in format compared to previous years. Riot Games has decided to eliminate long breaks between series and conduct key matches without delay, making the playoffs more dynamic.

The grand finale will be held on November 9 at the Dong'an Lake Sports Park Multifunctional Gymnasium in Chengdu. This will be the culmination of a month-long competition that covers all the major regions of the professional LoL scene.

Worlds 2025 will be the first World Championship held in China since the pandemic and the second to use the Swiss system. The tournament promises to be intense both competitively and logistically: three large-scale locations, a compressed playoff schedule, and a new approach to organization — Riot has seriously committed to updating the format.
