GrabbZ on Fnatic 's Future Roster: "Only Upset and Mikyx Are Safe"

Time: 2025-06-06 14:11 (UTC)

The European organization Fnatic is going through a challenging period following their failure in the spring split of LEC. The team's coach, Fabian "Grabbz" Lohmann, held a candid press conference on his Twitch channel, where he shared critical internal details about the team and upcoming changes.

Upset and Mikyx — The Only Safe Players
Grabbz confirmed that currently, no player other than the bot lane duo of Upset and Mikyx can be assured of their place in the roster. The top side of the map (top lane, jungle, and mid) is at risk of changes. While decisions are not yet finalized, changes are expected during the offseason.

Another significant change is the addition of an extra coach who will focus exclusively on behavioral and communication aspects, rather than gameplay. According to Grabbz, the problem lies not only in macro or micro but in a fundamental lack of understanding within the team.

Among the key issues highlighted by Grabbz:

Breaking game plans: Players agree on one strategy, but in the game, someone independently decides to follow a different script.
Risky Baron calls: Grabbz referred to approaches to Barons as “a flip” — “let's just see what happens.”
Lack of a shotcaller: The coach believes this role is outdated in modern LoL, but acknowledges the team lacks leadership.
Instability in the jungle and mid lane: The form of the jungler and mid laner varies from “good” to “very bad.”
Humanoid has exceptional macro understanding but doesn’t share it with the team during the game due to internal constraints.
Upset — The Only Stable Player

Among all the players, only Upset received unequivocal recognition from the coach. He was the one who maintained a level of professionalism even when the rest of the team seemed lost.

His approach to training, willingness to openly discuss issues, and drive for continuous improvement set him apart amid the overall decline. He, along with the coaches, tried to motivate others and set the right tone, and although it didn’t always yield results, his contribution remained noticeable and undeniable.

There was also mention of some "drama" between players, but details were not disclosed. Grabbz stated that the players will decide for themselves whether to reveal this information publicly.

What's Next?
Following a crushing defeat in the lower bracket of the LEC Spring Cup 2025 against Karmine Corp with a score of 3:0, detailed statistics can be found at this link. The team is taking a month-long break, after which they will have a month to prepare for the LEC summer split.

The team is taking a month-long break, after which they will have a month to prepare for the LEC summer split. Fnatic does not plan a boot camp, as they are unsure about the roster’s stability. There are also plans for possible collaboration with ERL teams, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Grabbz concluded that the atmosphere in the team at the end of the split was very poor, and although this indicates player involvement, due to emotional tension, all weaknesses only became more pronounced.
