The bronze medalists of the previous qualifiers and one of the strongest teams in the Pacific region received an invitation to the Asian Champions League 2025 where they will fight for a slot at EWC 2025. However, it has recently become known that the main lineup will be replaced, and instead of Patrick "PatMen" Mendoza, the team will be represented by Aaron "mindfreak" Leonhart.
What is known about the situation
After the completion of VCT 2025: Pacific Stage 1, where Paper Rex took second place and secured a slot at the Masters Toronto 2025, the team received an invitation to the Asian Champions League 2025. This is another stage of qualifications where teams from Asia will compete for an invitation to the EWC 2025.
However, as it became known later, Paper Rex will not be playing with their main lineup. Due to problems with obtaining a visa, PatMen will not be able to go to the tournament, and mindfreak will perform instead.
Official announcement. Paper Rex VALORANT will play with Aaron “mindfreak” Leonhart at the upcoming HERO Esports Asian Champions League 2025 tournament in Shanghai, China. Patrick “PatMen” Mendoza is currently unable to play due to a lengthy visa process, and our priority now is to ensure that the appropriate documents are in place for PatMen to participate in the VCT Masters Toronto.
Nevertheless, the organization is confident that the player's visa will be ready for the Masters Toronto, and both participants will go to the event.
