Police in Leshan, Sichuan Province, uncovered a case involving the production and sale of external devices for the game VALORANT. The core team consisted of young individuals who operated under the guise of a “technology startup.” Since March 19, the police have carried out three large-scale operations across three provinces in China, detaining 15 people and seizing over 10,000 devices along with a significant amount of equipment used in their production. Out of the 7 million yuan earned, only 360,000 was spent on salaries and incentives, while the rest was divided as profit.
All of this took place in a rented room in a dormitory — this was where the external devices were made. When connected to a computer, these devices provided an unfair advantage in the game: aimbot, recoil control, wallhack, and more.
Riot Games reported that it has begun working with the police and has already neutralized over 11,000 such devices. Their distribution sources (social media chats, marketplaces, etc.) have been blocked and removed.
The company stated that VALORANT has zero tolerance for players who use cheats, and all those caught using such devices have been permanently banned.
