Liquid Shockingly Lose to Sashi at ESL Pro League Season 22: European Qualifier

Time: 2025-07-14 18:34 (UTC)

In the ESL Pro League Season 22: European Qualifier, team Liquid was defeated by Sashi, a team ranked 62nd in the VRS, and also a substitute. The match ended with a score of 1:2, resulting in Liquid's elimination from the tournament, failing to advance to Stage 2. Liquid only managed to win their map, Mirage (13:10), but lost on Nuke (8:13) and the deciding Inferno (6:13).

The best player of the match was Philip "Lucky" Ewald, who finished the series with a frag score of 60–35 and an ADR of 97.

This result means that Liquid unexpectedly exits, placing 9th–16th in the qualifier and failing to advance to Stage 2, let alone the main part of ESL Pro League Season 22. Meanwhile, Sashi, thanks to their victory, advances to Stage 2 and continues to fight for a spot.

Despite the setback, Liquid's management stated last week that they have confidence in the current roster and that there will be no changes. However, after such an early exit, this decision is increasingly questioned. Especially considering the entire team finished the series with negative stats. The community is now asking: Was it really the right decision to keep this lineup? You can share your thoughts in the comments.

The ESL Pro League Season 22 Europe Closed Qualifier runs from July 14 to July 17. During the qualifier, a slot for the main season of ESL Pro League Season 22 will be contested.
