LEC Commissioner Confirms 2025 Format Flop, Promises New System in 2026

Time: 2025-08-29 13:41 (UTC)

LEC Commissioner Artem Bykov addressed fans on his X account, admitting that the Summer Split format experiment didn’t land as expected and confirming it will not return next year.

Summer Split format didn’t land the way we hoped and we won’t bring it back next year. We’re also looking for ways to increase the number of competition days across the whole year in 2026

He explained that one of the main goals was to avoid Bo1 series, which many fans found less exciting. However, scheduling games on Mondays and Tuesdays, along with partial overlap with VCT, made the split feel less appealing.

Despite the challenges, Bykov emphasized that the league has learned valuable lessons from both Spring and Summer and is already working on a new 2026 structure that incorporates community feedback. More details are expected after the Summer Split concludes.

In the comments, one fan asked whether the LEC could adopt a more stable format like LPL or LCK, which support competitiveness and long-term sponsorships.

Benefits of consistent format is something I’ve been thinking a lot lately so definitely see your point. To offer an alternative perspective: format changes unlock opportunities that make the LEC better… Finding the balance between consistency and innovation is tricky but something we strive for.
Artem Bykov respond

The commissioner underlined that the key challenge for the league remains finding the right balance between consistency and innovation to keep fans engaged while creating new opportunities for growth.
