BLAST London Open Knockout Stage Preview: Vitality Remains Strong but Showing Signs of Fatigue?

Time: 2025-09-04 01:00 (UTC)

From September 5th to 7th, the OVO Arena at Wembley will host the BLAST London Open Grand Finals.

The knockout stage will bring together the six top teams that emerged from the online tournament, with only days left to lift the championship trophy. The single-elimination format creates a zero-to-no margin for error for all teams, making every match a life-or-death struggle where even the slightest misstep could mean elimination. With a prize pool of $330,000 USD, spectators can expect fierce competition, sold-out crowds, and the immersive atmosphere of one of Europe 's most iconic offline tournament venues.

Competition Format

The BLAST London Open knockout rounds feature a single-elimination format. The quarterfinals and semifinals are best-of-three, while the grand final is a best-of-five. This format leaves no room for error; a single poor day could spell disaster for a team, and consistency and adaptability will be crucial to victory.

Bonus Pool Distribution

The total prize pool of $330,000 will be shared among the six teams. Such a high prize pool means that every stage of the knockout stage is crucial.

Champion: $150,000

Runner-up: $60,000

Third place/Fourth place: US$40,000

Fifth/Sixth Place: $20,000

Schedule and opening game

The opening match of this tournament will be between Mouz and M80 . The other matchup divisions and the complete schedule are shown below.

Team Ratings and Predictions

The six teams that advanced to the knockout stage all emerged from online qualifiers, but only a few can be considered true powerhouses in London .

S Tier:  Vitality  and  FURIA Esports  —the two clear favorites. Vitality maintains its dominance in the CS2 arena, consistently displaying top-tier performance. FURIA Esports , with its consistent performance and powerful offense, also possesses the potential to advance to the finals.

A-Tier: FaZe F, G2 ,  Mouz  - FaZe has been in strong form in recent weeks, G2 is full of confidence after eliminating  Spirit  to advance, and although Mouz arrived in London in an unstable position, they still have the strength to defeat the top teams.

B-Tier:  M80 - Despite a solid performance in the qualifiers, they are clearly underdogs facing the Wembley stage. This will be a true test of their resilience.

Vitality team, standing firm but showing signs of fatigue?

Vitality has always been one of the most respected teams in Counter-Strike, but has shown signs of decline in recent months. While they're no longer the unstoppable force that swept multiple championships at the start of the season, their systematic playstyle and extensive tournament experience have kept them competitive. With favorable matchups and a lack of strong opponents, Vitality should be able to advance to the Grand Finals. However, facing tough opponents like G2, FaZe, or FURIA Esports could easily lead to them falling short.

FURIA Esports – The Real Threat

FURIA Esports is a clear contender for the championship, their current form unstoppable, giving them a golden opportunity to capture a top-tier title. They advanced to the knockout stage as the dark horse of this tournament. They impressed in the group stage, eliminating several strong teams and proving themselves to be among the best. If they can maintain their same discipline and firepower, they are fully capable of defeating Vitality and claiming the championship. The semifinals will be the true test, but this FURIA Esports team showed the peak form fans have long missed.

FaZe - A Tested and Still Threaten

FaZe's path to the finals was challenging but effective. Despite a controversial victory over a struggling  Natus Vincere  , they showcased their true strength in the seeding match against Vitality . FaZe pushed the favorites to the brink of defeat, nearly securing a best-of-three victory. If they can continue this form against G2, they have a strong chance of advancing. While the match is expected to be intense, FaZe appears to be more comfortable with the pressure of Wembley.

Mouz - Solid but not sharp enough

Mouz has been a reliable top-tier team for much of the year, but their recent performances lack the edge fans expected. Facing a quarter-final of M80 as the favorite to win the championship, a loss would be surprising. However, the semifinal against Vitality presents a new challenge. Unless Mouz replicates their IEM Cologne form, their run in London could end sooner than expected.

M80 – The Dark Horse

M80 is a true dark horse of this tournament. They showed potential online with bold tactics and individual bursts, but the pressure at Wembley is completely different. If they're in perfect form, they might be able to secure a map victory or even close out the match, but the odds are slim. Their quarterfinal match against Mouz will test their ability to compete at the top level.

G2: Potential flashes, gaps remain

While G2 defeated a struggling Spirit team in the online stage, their consistency remains questionable. Their AWPers are still weak compared to top teams, a factor that could prove fatal against FaZe. Despite their high morale following the team's restructuring, G2 doesn't yet seem to be at the level needed to challenge FURIA Esports or Vitality in the deep knockout stages.

Event Outlook

The BLAST London Open knockout stage brought together six teams, each with a mission to prove themselves. Vitality , with their tournament experience and well-developed tactical system, was favored to advance to the finals, but FURIA Esports , with their most complete and threatening roster, was the only team capable of challenging Vitality 's dominance.

The quarterfinal match between FaZe and G2 promises to be a thrilling affair, while Mouz and M80 aim to defy expectations. At Wembley Stadium, only one champion emerges. If their performance in the group stage continues, this tournament could become a must-win for FURIA Esports .
