Chovy Donates ₩20 Million to Support South Korean Drought Victims

Time: 2025-09-09 16:00 (UTC)

Mid laner Gen.G Jeong " Chovy " Ji-hoon continues to actively support the community.

On September 8, the Hope Bridge Disaster Relief Association announced that the player donated ₩20 million (approximately $14,400) to aid the residents of Gangneung, who are suffering from a prolonged drought. The funds will be used to provide drinking water to the region.

Chovy 's Recent Initiatives

This is not the first instance of charity from the Korean esports player. In recent years, he has supported victims of floods, typhoons, and wildfires, and has also allocated funds to families of those who perished in the Jeju Air crash in 2025. His total donations to Hope Bridge have reached ₩70 million (about $50,400).

I'm very fortunate to be where I am now, and there's a lot of good happening in my life, so I wanted to give back to the community.

Charitable Activities Since 2020

Since the start of his career, the player has systematically contributed to social projects. According to open sources, since 2020, his donations have amounted to around $192,700. These include:

  • assistance during the COVID pandemic (2020),
  • projects for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities,
  • scholarships for graduates of the schools he attended,
  • support for low-income families affected by floods,
  • donations to Gen.G Global Academy and local social assistance centers.

Organization's Reaction

Kim Hee-yoon, head of fundraising at Hope Bridge, thanked the esports player:

We are deeply grateful to Chovy for his generosity and support of neighbors suffering from severe drought. His funds will be directed straight to helping the affected residents.

The association has already delivered emergency water supplies to Gangneung in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and Safety, including over 20,000 bottles of 0.5 liters and nearly 30,000 bottles of 2 liters. Local companies have also joined the humanitarian initiative.

Other LCK Players

Chovy is not the only one who regularly helps people. Earlier this year,  Oner  donated ₩20 million to combat the aftermath of fires, and  faker  is known for his long-standing initiatives—from support during the COVID pandemic to his recent donation of ₩50 million to aid residents affected by natural disasters.
