FlyQuest Suspends Bwipo Following Sexist Remarks About Women

Time: 2025-09-10 08:30 (UTC)

Gabriel "Bwipo" Rau, a player for  FlyQuest , has been suspended from participating in the next playoff match of the LTA 2025 Championship following sexist remarks made during a stream.

He commented on women in esports, which sparked sharp criticism from the community and professional players. FlyQuest called his words unacceptable and announced that they would donate his prize money to support women in the industry.

Incident Details

During the broadcast, Bwipo stated that female physiology hinders consistent performance in esports and that "there's a time of the month when it's not advisable to play competitive games." He referred to personal experience, saying that his former partner became excessively irritable during League of Legends matches. According to the player, this was not an expression of sexism but an observation based on a real situation. Nonetheless, the remark provoked a strong reaction from the community and condemnation from fellow players.

Organization's Actions

FlyQuest stated that such comments contradict its values, as they might deter women from esports. The club emphasized the importance of equal access and education, but added that in this case, responsibility is as crucial as educational efforts. As a result, Bwipo has been temporarily suspended from matches in the LTA 2025 Championship, and his prize money will be donated to funds supporting women in gaming.

Later, the player also apologized on his personal page on X:

Hello everyone. I realize that I made a serious mistake. My words were ignorant and disrespectful towards women, including those close to me. I apologize to everyone I offended. I'm sorry that I used my platform not to support but to spread sexism and negativity. I intend to rethink my behavior, listen to others, and become better.

Gabriel "Bwipo" Rau

This is not the first controversial episode involving Bwipo. Previously, he criticized  Cloud9  for a team dinner after scrims without considering the context, and he also got into a personal conflict with 100 Thieves ' top laner Niship "Dhokla" Doshi. During the grand final of the LTA, the players twice refused to fist bump — more details can be found in our article. The incident with the stream remarks is another in a series of high-profile situations in Bwipo's career.
