LCK Audience Grew 42% Between 2024 and 2025 Amid Format Shift

Time: 2025-11-11 22:00 (UTC)

The League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) recorded a 42% increase in global average minute audience (AMA) between 2024 and 2025.

This sharp rise followed structural changes to the league’s competitive format, including the introduction of a pre-season LCK Cup 2025 and a unified regular season. The league reached a total AMA of 624,000 viewers in 2025, up from 439,000 the previous year. International viewership led the surge, outpacing domestic growth significantly.

Format Change Drives Viewer Surge

In contrast to other Riot Games regions that adopted a three-split calendar, the LCK implemented a single-season format for 2025, complemented by a standalone pre-season event — the LCK Cup. While this cup did not count toward the regular season standings, it drew the league’s highest AMA of the year at 634,000 viewers.

The league’s domestic audience rose from 175,000 to 230,000 viewers, marking a 31% increase. However, international growth was even stronger: AMA outside South Korea jumped from 264,000 to 394,000 — a 49% year-over-year gain. Among foreign viewers, China accounted for the largest share (43.6%), followed by English-language broadcasts (22%) and Vietnam (20%).

This growth trend came as other major regions, such as Europe and China LPL, experienced stagnation or decline. The LCK continued success is attributed to both its competitive level and consistent presence on the international stage.

Korean teams have reached every Worlds final since 2019, winning five of the last six championships. With organizations like  T1 Generation Gaming , and  Hanwha Life Esports  maintaining fierce rivalries and competing for global dominance, the LCK has remained a focal point of the League of Legends esports scene — both in terms of viewership and competitive relevance.
