XLG Esports , recently crowned champions of VCT 2025: China Stage 1, made a significant roster change ahead of the international tournament VCT 2025: Masters Toronto — the club announced the signing of player Zhang "Midi" Jiasjun, who will replace Ip "YoU" Man-ho, who left the team amid a scandal.

YoU joined XLG in October 2024 and helped the team achieve impressive results: winning VCT 2025: China Stage 1 and securing bronze at the Asian Champions League 2025. However, after the victory, rumors began circulating about his involvement in betting on his own matches, possible cheating in the past, and anti-Chinese remarks online. The player was temporarily suspended on May 18, and by May 19, he officially left the club. In his statement, he confirmed some of the allegations and expressed regret, taking responsibility for the team's tarnished reputation. 

Midi is a young and promising player from China, previously representing Trace Esports . With the team, he secured 5th place at the Esports Asian Championship 2025, 3rd place at the China Evolution Series: Act 2, and 5th-6th place at VCT 2025: China Stage 1. Midi primarily played the role of an initiator with an average of 173 ACS and a 0.95 K/D. His signing was described by XLG as "the beginning of a new chapter," highlighting his bold playstyle and eagerness to grow.

Thanks to their victory at VCT 2025: China Stage 1, the XLG Esports team will start their journey at Masters Toronto directly in the playoff stage, bypassing the Swiss system qualifiers. The tournament will take place from June 7 to 22 at the Enrecar Arena, Toronto , with a prize pool of $1,000,000.
