In a move that has been highly anticipated by players and esports experts, Valve has removed the option to buy Double Down Tokens in Dota 2. The tokens have now been taken out of the store alongside the conclusion of the Crownfall event.

The official Dota 2 website had made this announcement at the end of the event:

“Everyone saw this coming. We warned you about it once and have even attempted to postpone the process. However, it is no longer possible because it is currently happening. We will not be granting any last-minute delays in the process. Crownfall is now officially archived"

Many players have noted that the tokens have been missing from the store ever since Crownfall was archived. The community does, however, note that there are still some unused tokens from before Crownfall in people’s inventories, and those tokens can be used like before.

Numerous gamers and esports experts have voiced grievances regarding Double Down tokens, stating that it has caused MMR inflation along with other issues such as rank manipulation which adversely hurt the game experience.

As a reminder, Valve has on February 6 started completely removing Crownfall but instead of completely deleting it, they placed it in the archive, enabling players to still use their candies and engage in mini-games.
