Dendi Fails Challenge and Deletes Dota 2

Time: 2025-06-04 07:09 (UTC)

On May 23, Dota legend and streamer Danil "Dendi" Ishutin embarked on a 10-day challenge to gain 1000 MMR in Dota 2 matchmaking. He launched the challenge on stream to regain motivation for the game. If unsuccessful, Danil promised to uninstall the client and try his hand at another MOBA.

"If I don't succeed, I'll delete the game and move on to something else. Maybe even LoL."

Over the 10 days, Dendi increased his MMR by only 449, finishing at the 2000th spot on the European ladder. Despite regular streams and viewer support, he couldn't complete the challenge in time. At the end of the stream, he uninstalled Dota 2 and began installing League of Legends.

He noted that he hadn't launched LoL since 2011 and promised to conduct his first stream of the game after a day off. According to Dendi, the experiment will provide an opportunity to view the genre from a new perspective and temporarily change the scenery.

"Finally, we'll play a real game. But not tomorrow. Tomorrow I'll take a day off, and on the next stream, we'll try LoL," said Dendi. "I haven't played it since 2011. I hope it will be fun. Of course, I'll return to Dota later, but first, I'll try League."

How long the break from Dota 2 will last is still unknown. The switch to another MOBA is an unusual step for Dendi, one of the most recognizable players in the history of the discipline. He recently shared his views on his career, the Dota scene, and the development of B8 in a detailed interview.
