BOOM Esports lose their VCT franchise slot

Time: 2025-08-02 11:47 (UTC)

BOOM Esports have lost their slot in the Valorant Champions Tour following today’s defeat to Detonation FocusMe in the group stage of VCT 2025: Pacific Stage 2.

The organization, which earned its VCT slot in 2023 by winning the grand final of Ascension Pacific 2023, is now officially out of playoff contention and, as a result, no longer eligible to retain its place in the VCT partnered league. The only path to keep their spot was to win the event, and with that no longer possible, their future now depends on their final circuit point ranking. Two scenarios remain:

Top 8 in circuit points: If BOOM Esports finish 8th or higher in the standings, they will earn a chance to fight for a return to VCT via Ascension against top Challengers teams.
Below 8th: If they finish lower than 8th, they will be automatically relegated to the Challengers league and must begin their road back to VCT in 2026 from there.
BOOM Esports still have one match remaining — against ZETA DIVISION on August 9 — where they have a good chance to secure a win. A victory would bring them to 6 total points, up from their current 5, potentially securing a 7th-place finish in the standings.
