Majamia from Team Galaga was kicked out of the tournament after saying stuff about men in the Game Changers women's league

Time: 2025-08-05 07:37 (UTC)

A few days ago, a scandal erupted in the women's segment of VCT Game Changers. Turkish Team Galaga player Setena “majamia” Aydemir made a series of controversial statements about the gender composition of teams after losing a match against Small Crew, for which she received a one-year ban and was dismissed from the team.

What is known about the situation
The story took place at VCT 2025: Game Changers EMEA Contenders Series 2, where 34 teams are competing for a slot in the next stage. In the quarterfinals of the lower bracket of Group D, Team Galaga , along with majamia, faced Small Crew in a knockout match, which they lost 0-2. After that, majamia herself stated on her social media that it was difficult for her to play against men participating in a women's tournament.

We lost 0–2 and were eliminated from the tournament. It was difficult to play against men. But what can you do? Each team has at least one man, and most have 2–3 :D XD I'm going to create a Game Changers team with 5 guys, and we will dominate
Immediately after that, there was an uproar on the internet, and the organizers of the Project V tournament responded to the situation by suspending the girl from participating in competitions for one year.

Maintaining the integrity of the league is our responsibility, as is creating a safe environment for all participants. We will always support our players and teams in their pursuit of safety and respect. In connection with the statements made against the Small Crew team, Setena “majamia” Aydemir is suspended from participating in all PROJECT V and EQUAL ESPORTS QUEENS tournaments for one year.
Along with the decision of the tournament organizers, Team Galaga , for which majamia played, released its own statement. Representatives of the team said that they consider her statements unacceptable and are therefore terminating her contract early.

Since the creation of our team, we have strived not only for good results, but also for a safe and respectful atmosphere. In light of recent events, we are terminating our cooperation with majamia, as her statements contradict our values.

After these statements, majamia herself did not remain silent and boldly declared that she did not care about the consequences. She does not plan to participate in competitions that are not properly regulated anymore.

I don't care. My life is not limited to Twitter or Valorant. Ban me wherever you want, I still don't want to be part of a scene that is not properly regulated. In a few years, when there are no women left in Game Changers, you will remember this situation. It is not for nothing that they say that the truth can make you an enemy of the people.
The majamia scandal has once again raised the painful issue of gender identity in women's esports leagues. Until Riot Games and its partners have a unified public policy on player participation in Game Changers, similar situations are likely to recur, and innocent players will suffer.
