In yesterday's match against MIBR , European club Team Liquid unexpectedly used all six players from its Valorant roster. It later became known that the club will use this strategy in all subsequent matches at the current Masters Toronto .
What is known about the situation
Recall that before the start of the event, it became known that one of Liquid's players, Ayaz “nAts” Akhmetshin, had visa problems, which is why the team played the first match with a substitute against Bilibili Gaming and lost 1:2.
But before the next match against MIBR , nAts received his visa and was able to fly to Toronto , giving the team a total of six active players. Nevertheless, this did not prevent Liquid from winning, using different lineups on both maps.
As you can see in the image above, there are six players listed in Liquid's post-match table. This is because penny played for the team on the first map, Icebox, while Serial played on the second map, Sunset. These substitutions did not prevent Liquid from winning and knocking MIBR out of the tournament.
Official announcement
Tonight, Team Liquid representatives released an interesting announcement on their official social media accounts. It states that, given the current experience, the club will continue to play with 6 active players throughout Masters Toronto .
Based on our experience in Toronto , we will play the rest of the Masters tournament with a roster of six players, including Serial and penny . Despite all the difficulties we have faced, we are grateful to our fans for their support throughout.
Team Liquid 's next match is scheduled for today, as part of the final round of the group stage of the event. In it, the team will face Paper Rex in a battle for the right to continue their journey in the tournament. You can follow this and other Masters Toronto matches at the link.
