Rumors: Team Liquid to Part Ways with Mid Laner APA Before LCS 2026 Season

Time: 2025-10-09 10:00 (UTC)

The organization  Team Liquid  has terminated the contract with midlaner Ein APA Sterns ahead of the LCS 2026 season.

This decision is part of a major roster overhaul following a disappointing 2025, during which the team saw the departure of two coaches and top laner Jeong Impact Eon-young. This was reported by Sheep Esports, citing sources familiar with the situation.

According to Sheep Esports, Team Liquid 's management decided to release APA as part of restructuring the roster before the new competitive cycle. After the disappointing results of the 2025 season, the club intends to completely revamp its lineup.

Currently, the organization has not announced a new midlaner; however, sources indicate that they are actively exploring the market and showing interest in players from South Korea —a trend observed among many LCS teams this offseason.

The future of APA remains uncertain. Sources report that the esports player is already considering career options both within the LCS and beyond North America, including LEC and CBLOL.

Ein joined the main roster of Team Liquid in 2023, rising from the organization's academy. In a short time, he became one of the most recognizable players in the league thanks to his charismatic communication style and confident gameplay.

During his time with Liquid, APA won the LCS championship title, became the winner of LTA 2025 Split 1, and represented the team in international tournaments. In 2024, he received the LCS Finals MVP (Spring Split) and Most Improved Player awards.

The 2025 season was less successful: the team faced a decline in form and internal issues. Liquid finished LTA Split 3 in sixth place and failed to qualify for the MSI and Worlds, marking a stark contrast to their previous achievements.
