NiKo : “I will 100% become an IGL in the future”

Time: 2025-08-11 13:20 (UTC)

Falcons star rifler Nikola " NiKo " Kovač, during a recent livestream, opened up about his career ambitions, plans to transition into an in-game leader role, and his current feelings about the prestige of CS2 Majors. The Bosnian revealed that consistency is a bigger priority for him than chasing a single Major title.

100% future as an IGL
When asked if he would consider becoming an in-game leader later in his career, NiKo didn’t hesitate:

Yes, 100%. I will 100% become an IGL.

This marks a potential shift for one of Counter-Strike’s most renowned riflers, who has spent the majority of his career focusing on raw fragging power rather than team-leading responsibilities.

Consistency over Major titles
NiKo made it clear that recent struggles with inconsistency have been far more painful than his long-standing absence of a Major trophy:

Do you think you will ever win a major? I hope so. But for me, it's much more important that I'm consistent. I wouldn't like to win a major now and just disappear and be like shit for the rest of my career. I would rather be always good and compete for the rest of the titles rather than just winning a major and disappear, to be honest.

He also admitted that the prestige of the Major has diminished in his eyes:

I don't know how to explain, but I feel like major lost its prestige in a way. Obviously I would love to win a major. It's my dream and a goal, but for me it's much more about consistency in CS. This is hurting me much more. Like these past 2-3 months is hurting me much more than just losing one major. I just hate losing.

Widely regarded as one of the best riflers in Counter-Strike history, NiKo has come agonizingly close to winning a Major multiple times, including a famous loss in the ELEAGUE Boston 2018 final. Falcons ’s recent struggles have sparked discussions about roster and the team’s leadership direction, making NiKo ’s future IGL plans even more intriguing.
