This is top of mind for us and changes are coming in 2027 to address it. But this report is false.
Leo Faria
While Faria confirmed that Riot is considering significant changes for 2027 to address the competitive structure, he stated that the specific report about the regional split is inaccurate.
Original news:
Riot Games is reportedly planning to split the VCT Americas league into two separate regions — North America and South America, with the latter featuring teams from Brazil and Latin America. The information comes from Brazilian outlet ATUALIZADO.
Currently, VCT has only four regions — EMEA, Pacific, China, and Americas — with teams from both South and North America competing together in the Americas league. According to the rumors, Riot is considering forming a dedicated LATAM & Brazil region, similar to the structure already present in the League of Legends ecosystem.
Such a change would only be possible starting in 2027, as agreements for the current and next seasons are already in place.
The move is expected to improve competitiveness and provide more growth opportunities for emerging teams from Brazil and Latin America, who currently compete with North American squads for VCT slots. It would also increase the number of tier-one clubs with Brazilian roots. If implemented, 2027 could mark a major shift in the competitive VALORANT scene.
