Valve has updated its VRS ranking, which determines the participants of key tournaments in the second half of 2025. In the current version, TNL holds the 29th position, breaking into the top 30 for the first time. This is a significant milestone: the ranking influences the distribution of invites to six major events, including BLAST Bounty, BLAST London Finals, and ESL Pro League Season 22.
With the legendary coach Mikhail “Kane” Blagin taking the CEO position, TNL has started showing stable and impressive results. They claimed the title at the Swedish LAN tournament Level Up lund !, secured second place at Galaxy Battle 2025 Phase 1, and won The Proving Grounds Season 1, earning over $40,000 in prize money. All these achievements occurred within just three months — a rapid pace for a team recently considered a shadow on the tier-2 scene.
How Legacy Broke into the Top 25
The most remarkable leap in the rankings was made by the Brazilian team Legacy . Recently at the 49th position, they soared to 21st place, marking one of the sharpest climbs in the update. This was made possible by their performance at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, an event they almost missed.
Initially, Bestia was supposed to attend the major, but visa issues opened the door for Legacy . The team seized the opportunity to the fullest: despite a challenging start to the tournament, they managed to pass the first stage, went undefeated in the second, and in the decisive part, they overcame Vitality , ending their winning streak. Although they were hindered from reaching the playoffs by a loss in the fifth round, the final 9-12 place was a true triumph for a roster that wasn't expected to be there.
Tournaments Formed by This Ranking
The updated VRS ranking will be used to allocate slots for six major tournaments:
BLAST Bounty — 28 teams
BLAST London Finals — 12 teams
ESL Pro League Season 22 — 15 teams
CS Asia Championships 2025 — 10 teams
FISSURE Playground 2 — 16 teams
StarLadder Budapest — 16 teams
TNL is almost certain to make it to BLAST Bounty, and Legacy has a strong chance to participate in several top tournaments.
The updated ranking not only changes the standings of the teams but also reshapes the global scene itself. TNL and Legacy are two examples of teams that seized the moment and reached a new level. One through systematic work, the other through an incredible opportunity. In both cases, these are teams to watch in the coming months.
