Counter-Strike 2: August 14 Update Brings Nighttime Maps, New Skin, and Major Animation Overhaul

On August 14, 2025, Counter-Strike 2 received a hefty 4.4 GB update. The patch introduces nighttime versions of Ancient and Shoots, refreshes Ancient ’s materials with new shaders, adds fresh cosmetic content, overhauls weapon animations, and delivers performance improvements. Ancient and Shoots

Added nighttime versions.
Refreshed all Ancient materials to use the latest CS2 shaders.
Added new blending options for Ancient materials, including wetness and moss effects.
Introduced ancient_zoo.vmap with all assets and blending examples for mapmakers.

Items
Deluge Music Kit Box is now available in both standard and StatTrak versions.
A new limited-time item, M4A1-S | Solitude, is now available in The Armory.

Animation
Modified Sawed-Off shotgun deploy animation and fixed shell penetration during reload.
Improved deploy and quick inspect animations for all knives.
Updated deploy and quick inspect animations for AK, Galil, AUG, and PP-Bizon.
Improved deploy animations for AWP, M4A4, and M4A1-S.
Refined animations for legacy SSG08 models.
Removed deploy inspect delay for most weapons.
Fixed XM1014 blocking the crosshair during reload.

Miscellaneous
Rendering performance improvements across most maps.
Resolution and aspect ratio can now be changed in fullscreen windowed mode.
fps_max can no longer be changed while connected to a server.
Fixed an issue where certain weapons could be fired too soon after redeploying.

On August 2, 2025, Valve released a 522 MB update — the third consecutive patch addressing issues from the major July 29 overhaul. That patch fixed grenade inspection bugs, corrected Molotov and incendiary effects, adjusted jump mechanics, and resolved multiple audio problems. It also updated the map Jura to its latest Community Workshop version.
