Official: Sentinels Become New LCS Partner Team in 2026

Time: 2025-10-10 20:00 (UTC)

Sentinels will join the League Championship Series (LCS) as a permanent partner organization starting in the 2026 season.

Riot Games selected them to replace  100 Thieves , who decided to leave the league at the end of 2025. The team will occupy a slot previously intended for temporary participants and will gain entry rights without paying a franchise fee.

League Reboot and Change in Participants

In 2025, the LCS operated within the combined LTA structure. 100 Thieves participated as a temporary invited team without full partner status. Following their departure, Riot needed to find a replacement, and as part of the league's return to an independent format, Sentinels were chosen to join. The terms of the deal are not disclosed.

Return of a Brand with League of Legends Experience

Sentinels is a North American esports organization founded in 2016 under the name Phoenix1 . The team competed in the NA LCS until the end of 2017, after which they rebranded and focused on other disciplines. The organization is returning to the LCS ecosystem, where they previously competed as one of the first teams in the North American championship.

The return of Sentinels to League of Legends coincides with the restructuring of the LCS and a change in participants. The emergence of a new partner team could signal a renewal for the entire league and the formation of a new competitive environment in the region.
