LCS Announces New Interregional Tournament — Americas Cup

Time: 2026-01-13 11:00 (UTC)

LCS has introduced a new interregional tournament for League of Legends — the Americas Cup, which will take place in São Paulo a week before the start of First Stand.

The event will feature teams that finished in second and third place in the winter splits of LCS and CBLOL. Matches will be held at the CBLOL arena in São Paulo.

The competition will be played in a double elimination format, which includes both upper and lower brackets and allows teams to continue competing after a loss. The tournament is scheduled to last five days and will serve as a bridge between the Lock-In stage and the first international event of the season.

It was also announced that Riot Games will organize and fully fund bootcamps in Korea for the strongest teams from the spring splits of LCS and CBLOL during the MSI 2026. Additional details about the Americas Cup will be published later.

In 2025, Riot Games experimented with formats for interregional competitions in the American region, combining teams from North and South America under the LTA concept. In 2026, the developers decided to move away from this idea. The Americas Cup partially retains elements of last year's approach to international competition between LCS and CBLOL.
