Major Champion with Cloud9 Retires from Pro Gaming

Time: 2025-08-07 18:01 (UTC)

American esports player William "RUSH" Wierzba has officially announced his retirement from professional Counter-Strike. Over 12 years on the scene, he became a Major champion, represented North American organizations, and earned over $640,000 in prize money.

RUSH's Statement
In his statement, RUSH admitted that he had set a clear condition for himself long ago — to retire if his individual performance dropped or if he no longer enjoyed the game. Attempts to regain motivation through breaks and transitioning to CS2 proved temporary.

I told myself: if my individual level seriously declines or I stop enjoying the game — it's time to leave. I don't want to be someone who gets a contract just for the name and past achievements. That would be disrespectful to fans, organizations, and teammates,
he wrote.

RUSH's Achievements
The peak of RUSH's career was winning the ELEAGUE Major Boston 2018 with the legendary Cloud9 . He also won tournaments such as ELEAGUE Season 2, iBUYPOWER Masters 2017, DreamHack Open Denver, Northern Arena, and BLAST Premier: Spring 2020.

He played for OpTic Gaming , Complexity, and Evil Geniuses , and in 2025, he retired with Nouns. Despite actively participating in qualifiers for major tournaments, the team couldn't achieve consistent results.

RUSH competed on the professional scene from 2012 to 2025. During this time, he earned about $642,000 in prize money. The last period of his career took place in CS2 , where he represented teams Party Astronauts and Nouns. In the last season, he secured second place in the ESL Challenger League North America but failed to qualify for a Major.

Future Plans
After ending his playing career, RUSH does not plan to completely leave the CS scene. He is interested in becoming a coach, as he enjoys working with young players, sharing experience, and developing team chemistry. He is also open to offers from studios and tournaments as an analyst or talent.
