Hans Sama on the victory over MKOI: “We played better than usual”

Time: 2025-09-19 13:00 (UTC)

On September 14,  G2 Esports  advanced to the grand final of the LEC 2025 Summer. Thanks to a 3-1 victory over  Movistar KOI , they’re heading to Madrid to compete for the trophy.

Steven “ Hans Sama ” Liv spoke about the team’s mindset and their plans for the upcoming match.

Confidence and a serious approach to the tournament played a big role in their win over Movistar KOI . A large number of scrims also paid off.

I’m really happy we beat them 3-1, especially considering how resilient we were in the second game when we were about 10k gold behind. In situations like that, we played better than we usually do, and we managed to close out the game. In these kinds of matches, it’s really important to be ready as a team. We did a lot of things well.

Variety in draft approach. Full freedom in champion picks. Hard work and time.

I haven’t really played mages in the bot lane while at G2. It always depends on a lot of factors in the draft — who’s picked in jungle, mid, and what the opponents are drafting. But I used to be pretty good on mages — like Syndra and Ziggs. There are a few different approaches to bot lane drafting now. For example, MKOI almost always play through a hyper-carry bot — at least that’s how it felt in their last 10 games.

I’m glad I get to play different champions now. This year, I played Zeri for the first time. I had some good scrim performances on her, and I was curious when I’d finally get the chance to pick her on stage, since I used to play her poorly. I think I’ve gotten a lot better on her — in scrims, I was often carrying games. But I wasn’t sure if I’d actually get the chance to pick her during a tournament.

The grand final of the tournament will take place on September 28 in Madrid. Their opponent could even be Movistar KOI once again.
