MKOI Zeph: "Our strength is playing the map correctly"

Time: 2025-09-19 19:30 (UTC)

MKOI lost to  G2 Esports  with a score of 1:3 in the upper bracket final of the LEC 2025 Summer and are now awaiting their opponent in the lower bracket — the winner between  Karmine Corp  and  Fnatic .

In an interview, the team's assistant coach Quentin "Zeph" Viguier discussed the reasons for the loss, the players' progress, preparation for crucial matches, and their chances at Worlds 2025.

"Today we just played poorly"

According to Zeph, the main factor in their failure was insufficient preparation for the series:

Today, it might have been about poor preparation. I thought our drafts were good... except for the last one, which was awful, but that happens. Overall, G2 just played better, and we failed — it wasn't our day.

He added that to secure a comfortable draft for the next game, the team had to make sacrifices, leaving favorable picks for the opponent.

Late-game mistakes are not a systemic issue

In the second match of the series, MKOI lost a 10k gold lead and were defeated in three minutes. However, Zeph denies that the team has ongoing issues with the late game:

No, there's no problem. It's not a late-game issue but poor preparation. When you're not well-prepared, you're just fighting to survive. In the finals, we'll be better prepared — and that's good news.

Progress of Myrwn and Supa

The coach specifically noted the rapid growth of  Myrwn  and  Supa :

Myrwn has become a much more complete player; he works hard — he requests additional reviews, shows interest, and learns. Supa is generally stable, even if today didn't go well. In our team, it's a signature style — playing the map correctly, and Supa fits perfectly into this system.

Analysis and preparation for the rematch

Zeph emphasized that the current loss provided a lot of information for the next encounter with G2:

We gained a lot of data. If G2 doesn't come up with something new, next time we'll be in a very good position. Often, that's how it goes: you lose, adapt — and then win.

Now MKOI awaits the finals in Madrid, where they will play against Karmine Corp or Fnatic for the right to advance to the grand final and secure a slot at Worlds 2025.
